Virtuozzo 6.0 Update 11 Hotfix 18 (6.0.11-3486)

Last Updated: Nov 08, 2016 04:00PM UTC

Issue date:        2016-10-26

1. What's Included in This Update

This update includes a new Virtuozzo 6.0 kernel 2.6.32-042stab120.5 based on the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.8 kernel 2.6.32-642.6.1.el6. The new kernel introduces security and stability fixes.

2. Bug Fixes

- mm: Privilege escalation via MAP_PRIVATE COW breakage. (CVE-2016-5195) The previous fix was incomplete and could trigger a node hang on a container restore operation (PSBM-54242, OVZ_6817). A race condition was found in the way the Linux kernel's memory subsystem handled the copy-on-write (COW) breakage of private read-only memory mappings. An unprivileged local user could use this flaw to gain write access to otherwise read-only memory mappings and thus increase their privileges on the system. All Linux kernels starting from 2.6.22 are affected.

- Kernel crash on boot during load of sb_edac module. (PSBM-53566, OVZ-6809) Linux kernels 042stab117.x are affected.

3. Obtaining the Update

You can download and install the update using the yum utility included in the Virtuozzo 6.0 distribution.
